My Take on Greek Rank

Touse, Mouse, Bouse. (Insert eye roll here) Not sure what these mean? Good, because they're stupid. I said what I said & I won't apologize for it. I am the seasoned old bird after all. It's a form of Greek Rank I first saw on yikyak. Every advisor and FSL (fraternity/sorority life) advisor just groaned out loud. Yikyak is the bane of our existence. Touse is short for top house, and because you're not ignorant, I'll let you figure out what Mouse & Bouse are.

The reality is, there is no real rank. There are good girls, mean girls, churchy girls, involved girls, slacker girls, smart girls (not so smart girls), girls that drink & girls that don't in every sorority. A school's sororities represent the greater population on that campus, and only that campus.

Each sorority chapter is as different as the campus they are on. Stop comparing sororities across different schools. Don't look at the letters on the house & look at the women in the room. Are you able to have a great conversation? Did they make you feel welcome? Do you connect with their philanthropy? Then they may be a great fit for you. It's up to you to make the friends that will help you be your best self. And if you can't find any friends, then you may need to take a long look in the mirror & see what you can improve about yourself.

You know what is the same about every sorority chapter? Each chapter is philanthropic and service minded. Each national sorority donates millions of dollars to their chosen philanthropy each year. Each chapter cares about grades & you being successful in college and earning your diploma. Many sororities and alumnae chapters have scholarship money they award each year to help sisters pay for college or a secondary degree. It's a wonderful group to be a part of.

You want to know the cool thing about sorority women? We are doctors, lawyers, nurses, members of C-Suites, accountants, teachers, designers, architects, podcasters, engineers, small business owners, you name it, we are. We are sorority women, and we are touse.
